Giving Tuesday

Thank you so much for your support and engagement with our Giving Tuesday campaign this year! We are so grateful for the love and stories you shared regarding Power of Hope’s effect in your lives and the lives of your loved ones. With the momentum from Giving Tuesday, we are still searching for 14 more monthly donors to join our support circle. Any little bit you can spare helps us more than we can say.

Thank you for your continued generosity and support.

Earth Arts

This October we held a weekend gathering for the first time in 12 years! For the rebirth of Earth Arts, we partnered with our sister organization, IndigenEYEZ. We are so thankful to have been able to run this camp with them. It was a beautiful weekend of connecting to the land, connecting to self and others, working with ideas about self-care, and learning to stay safe and empowered in challenging times.

We are so grateful to have been able to hold this camp on the traditional lands of the T’sou-ke Nation at Camp Thunderbird. We made emergency self-care boxes to fill with items that help us to feel grounded and loved, we learned new songs, we met trees, and took part in workshops that included: forest foraging, songwriting, dream-catcher making, and creative movement.

Thank you to all who attended for creating such a rich weekend full of connection and community.

Gettin’ Higher Choir

Please join us on February 2nd, 2019 for a choral celebration! The Getting Higher Choir is hosting a concert, with all proceeds going towards Power of Hope and youth scholarships. Come and enjoy the Getting Higher Choir and their special guest Pat Wictor, a renowned global roots folk artist

Creative Facilitation 1

PYE Global is hosting a Creative Facilitation Level 1 Training in Vancouver this March 1st and 2nd. If you’re interested in learning more about facilitation and how it can aid the work you are doing, or are thinking of volunteering at a camp in the future, this is a great place to begin.

CF1 provides a framework for integrating creative practices into all aspects of your facilitation. You’ll learn strategies for developing a safe space that allows people to take creative risks, and you’ll receive a toolbox of easy-to-lead activities you can use the very next day to bring depth and heart to your programs. You can use what you learn in CF1 in any program regardless of the content, format, or audience.

Light The Fire 2019

We are excited to announce the dates for our 2019 Light the Fire camp on Cortes Island! Camp will be held from July 11th-18th

Registration will be open to returning youth on February 15th, with a limited number of spots set aside for returning youth. General registration will open on March 1st.

Other Ways to Help

If you are currently unable to donate financially, you can still help in a number of ways:

  • Are you connected to an organization that might be able to donate physical items from our wish list?
  • Are you a writer who might be willing to seek out and write a grant for us?
  • Are you an event organizer who would be willing to host a fundraiser?
  • Are you passionate about Power of Hope and willing to share your thoughts about us with people who may be able to help youth get to camp?
  • Are you connected to an organization that might benefit from working with Power of Hope, or may be connected to youth who would get a lot out of attending camp?

One physical donation we are looking for at the moment is a desktop computer for our office. We would be open to anything 2014 or younger. Please let us know if you have any leads we should follow.
